Hooper’s Mechanical Division – HVAC worked on the new McKenzie Regional Workforce Center in Fitchburg, Wisconsin for the Boys & Girls Club of Dane County (BGCDC). The project features renovating an existing 1965 building with an addition that will increase the overall space to 20,000 square feet. Once complete, the facility will house the Boys & Girls Club’s new headquarters, conference rooms, an entrepreneurship center, and a kitchen. At the heart of the center will be a skilled trades training program designed to educate, train, and support youth for careers as plumbers, HVAC technicians, carpenters, electricians, and more.

The scope of Hooper’s work on the project includes removing the existing mechanicals, installing a geothermal bore field with ten, 500-foot-deep wells and associated piping, installing four Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) water-cooled condensing units with system pumps, forty-one VRF fan coils, and an energy recovery ventilator. Hooper crews also are installing all the refrigerant piping, duct work, diffusers, and a Carrier I-Vu control system for comprehensive building HVAC management.
