  • Hooper crews began updating the 161 kV and 69 kV systems at the Council Bluffs Energy Center substation in Council Bluffs, Iowa in March 2015. The project is expected to be completed in December 2015.
  • 69 kV work includes replacement of eight 69 kV breakers, 21 line and breaker disconnect switches, all insulators, six sets of potential transformers, and four sets of arresters.
  • 161 kV work includes replacement of one shield wire with optical ground wire; replacement of two 161 kV disconnect switches with aluminum bus; installation of two new 161 kV disconnect switches; installation of two new 161 kV circuit breakers; installation of six 161 kV bus support/ switch structures; installation of four relay and control panels; modifying existing relay and control circuits to add the new 161 kV circuit breakers; installation of two dc panelboards; and replacement of one auto-throw over switch.
